THE MILLÉSIMA STORY: THE TALE OF A BOLD AND PASSIONATE FAMILY
With a history spanning more than 40 years, the Millésima story unfolds in several chapters. The first chapter of this epic story finds its source in the avant-garde and daring spirit of its founder: Patrick Bernard. It was in 1983 that Patrick Bernard wrote the first pages of the Millésima story. At that time, he had already joined the Lucien Bernard family business, which specialised in the production of Brandy. Initially rooted in the banking sector, he trained in the field, first with the leading Cognac houses and then gradually with the Bordeaux châteaux. As well as the commercial side of things, he learned the art of tasting, a unique skill that sharpens the senses and the capacity to remember flavours. This expertise and passion for wine gave rise to an idea that would change his life and that of his family forever. That idea was Millésima.
While the company was born out of passion, it is also the product of a deeply creative spirit. Constantly exploring new wine-growing horizons, Millésima has shaped itself over the years, starting out as a Bordeaux wine merchant, then offering a selection of wines in a catalogue, and finally venturing into the online world in 1997. The company has never stopped reinventing itself. Fabrice Bernard, the founder's son, has always cultivated this innovative spirit. Passionate about wine, marketing and the digital world, Fabrice Bernard joined the Millésima marketing team in 2007. With a philosophy of ‘test and learn’, he never stops experimenting: whether it's the website, social networks or new technologies, he is a true pioneer of digital marketing. At the head of the company since 2016, Fabrice Bernard continues to take us on a bold journey, perpetuating the quest for excellence undertaken by his father.
Continuing the family history, the founder's daughter, Hortense Bernard, joined the Millésima adventure in 2010. Immersed in the company's philosophy from an early age, Hortense Bernard gained her experience in the United States at the heart of the Millésima US subsidiary. An innovator, she not only played a key role in developing the company's reputation, but also in transmitting the family philosophy and her passion for Bordeaux wines to the American market. Since her return to France in 2021, Hortense Bernard has been strengthening the company's sales and marketing development, continuing to write the Millésima story alongside her brother.
