Description

The vivacity and finesse of a Pauillac wine in an elegant box of three different bottle formats

The estate

Located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste took its present form in 1855, although it was built as early as the 16th century. Raymond Dupin owned the estate from 1930 to 1978. He then sold the property to the Borie family in 1978, who have since carried out numerous renovations. Today, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is one of the most representative crus of the Pauillac appellation.

The vineyard

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2022 is a Pauillac wine that stems from a 90-hectare vineyard, of which 60 hectares are on a single block. The vines are 38 years old on average and are planted on hilltops of deep gravel.

The wine

Equivalent to the volume of 12 bottles (9 litres), this "Caisse Variation Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2022" contains 1 Double-Magnum, 2 Magnums and 4 classic bottles. The variation in bottle size is an invitation to discover, through these three formats, the evolution of this Pauillac wine over the years.

The vintage

A mild, moderately rainy winter advanced budburst at the end of March. Under good weather conditions, flowering was rapid and even. Spring, like summer, was marked by alternating hot and rainy spells. Veraison began on 13 July, with warm days and cool nights ensuring that the grapes gradually ripened. Historically early, the harvest began on 7 September.

Winemaking and ageing

Harvests done by hand were followed by a double sorting on a vibrating table and after destemming. Vatting for around 3 weeks. Ageing in French oak barrels (of which 75% were new).

Blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (79%)
Merlot (21%).
