A fresh and precise Pessac-Léognan white wine
The estate
Located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, the Château Baret has very ancient origins. The foundations of the estate date back to the 4th century. For several generations, Château Baret belonged to the Lords of Baret. In 1867, the Ballande family, merchants and shipowners, acquired the estate. Over the past twenty years, Château Baret has undergone significant renovations and restructuring, both in the vineyard and in the winery. From vintage to vintage and following the arrival of a new team since 2015, this historic property stands out among the most beautiful references of the Pessac-Léognan appellation.
The vineyard
Château Baret is a Pessac-Léognan wine from a 25.80 hectare vineyard located in the town of Villenave d'Ornon, east of Bordeaux. The vines, with an average age of 25 years, are planted on Garonne gravel and clay-limestone subsoils. 21.70 hectares are dedicated to the production of red wines and 4.10 hectares are dedicated to white wines.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes undergo skin maceration and fermentation in wooden vats. The ageing lasts 12 months on total lees, accompanied by stirring twice a week, for a period of 2 months.
Blend
This Château Baret 2023 is 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
