2008 Saint-Estephe 2e Cru Classe from Bordeaux
The 2008 late harvest yielded remarkable expressions of grapes. Cool temperatures in the summer brought freshness and liveliness to the 2008 Chateau Cos d'Estournel, while dry weather in September brought concentration and complex aromas.
This Saint-Estephe from Bordeaux is a dark hued 85% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet-Franc. Black fruits, liquorice, and tobacco are easily discernible on the nose. This wine is quite complex and strong -a mark of the terroir- as well as elegant. The palate is well-structured, with pleasant tannins, and striking fruits: delectable and charming. The 2008 Chateau Cos d'Estournel drinks well now or in about 15 years.
