The estate

Owned since 2005 by the Merlaut family, managed by Céline Villars Foubet and Jean-Pierre Foubet, Château Camensac is an estate founded in the 18th century in the Haut-Médoc appellation. This 5th Grand Cru Classé of 1855 was the subject of significant investments, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, which enabled the estate to be equipped with the best equipment. Château Camensac now stands out as an important Bordeaux reference, offering fantastic value for price.

The vineyard

An unmissable name in Haut-Médoc, the Château Camensac vineyard comprises 25 hectares of vines. The vines are planted in two different types of soil: the Gunzian gravel found in Saint-Julien and the Graffernian gravel found in Pessac-Léognan. It is from these two types of soil that give the wines of Château Camensac their unique character.

The vintage

A year which saw significant climatic contrasts, 2019 will be remembered as quite challenging for the winemakers of Bordeaux. Following a classic winter, April saw heavy rain. The scorching summer gave way to a milder month of September, punctuated by thunderstorms. The great know-how and constant attention of the technical teams have made it possible to get the very best of this vintage, a Château Camensac which promises exceptional quality.

Tasting

Colour
The wine has a beautiful deep garnet colour.

Nose
The aromatic palette develops from red fruit notes, like cherry, and lovely floral notes. Aeration reveals toasted notes.

Palate
The palate full and velvety, structured by a fine tannic framework and bright, fruity scents. The finish lingers on liquorice notes bringing a nice freshness.

Storage

This superb Haut-Médoc wine can be enjoyed from 2025 and still have the structure to evolve perfectly through to 2045.
