Description
The Fruity Generosity of a Great Red Wine of Fronsac
A true gem from the Fronsac appellation on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux region, the Château de La Dauphine seduces Bordeaux-lovers vintage after vintage with the consistent quality of its wines.
With a vineyard of 53 hectares planted on an exceptional clay-limestone soil, the famous Fronsadais molasses, Château de La Dauphine has been managed according to principles of organic agriculture since 2009 and obtained the certification in 2015. Today the property also uses biodynamic practices without the restrictions of the certification. The philosophy of the property is based on the desire to produce only great wines that reveal the expression of their terroir, while respecting the environment, from the vineyard to the cellar.
While the frost of April did hit the vineyard of the Château de la Dauphine, the best terroirs (slopes and the plateau) were spared.
The new 2017 vintage Château de La Dauphine highlights the efforts and daily investment made in this "winegrower’s" vintage, a testament to the meticulous work in the vineyard and precise winemaking under the guidance of the famous wine consultant Michel Rolland.
Château de La Dauphine 2017 has a well-defined style, revealing the fruitiness and roundness of Merlot (90% of the blend), while also highlighting the finesse and spice of Cabernet Franc (10% of the blend). To achieve this expression and to not unbalance the wine, the property is vigilant in the use of their barrels, avoiding excessive oak-to-wine ratios.
The fruit sparkles in this wine, revealing a superb aromatic freshness on the nose. A supple attack leads to a very generous, perfectly balanced palate. The Château de La Dauphine 2017 unveils itself as a vintage with an elegant personality, perfectly reflecting the charm of the Fronsac appellation.
