Description
A Margaux Grand Cru Classé with wonderful power and finesse
The estate
Located on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, Château Giscours is a historic property in the Margaux appellation, with vines first planted in the 16th century. This superb Margaux 3rd Cru Classé is a true flagship of the Bordeaux region, with its distinctive neoclassical palace architecture, its park of rare species and its buildings, including the beautiful "Ferme Suzanne." Since 1995, Château Giscours has entered a new era in its history following its acquisition by the Albada Jelgersma family.
The vineyard
Château Giscours is a Margaux wine produced from 95 hectares of vines out of a total of 300 hectares. A real jewel, the special feature of the Château Giscours terroir lies in the presence of 3 deep Garonne gravel ridges, which play a decisive role in the grapes' ripening cycle. This 2014 vintage stems from an exceptional terroir including 15% of vines aged between 4 and 10 years of age, 50% vines aged between 10 and 25 and 33% more than 25 years old.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvested by hand. Vinification in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats. Aged for 12 to 15 months exclusively in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new. Racking every 3 months by candlelight.
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (70%)

Petit Verdot (10%)
Characteristics and tasting tips for Château Giscours 2014
Tasting
Nose
Expressive and delicious, the nose reveals a rich aromatic palette, with notes of black fruit (crushed blackberry, blackcurrant) and red fruit (wild raspberry) mingling with delicious balsamic fragrances.
Palate
On the palate, the tannins are meticulously structured, offering both power (sap with a tight, fine grain) and delicacy. Perfectly extracted tannins combine with a full-bodied structure. The whole is well-balanced and shows great ageing potential.
