Description
A complex and very delicate Sauternes Premier Grand Cru Classé
The estate
Built in the 18th century, Château La Tour Blanche is now home to the La Tour Blanche School of Viticulture and Oenology. Premier Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes in 1855, Château La Tour Blanche, which has been owned by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region since 2010, now has an educational vocation while continuing to write the history of the great wines of Sauternes.
The vineyard
Château La Tour Blanche is a Sauternes wine from a 40 hectare vineyard. This terroir benefits from the influence of morning fog, which favours the development of botrytis cinerea, the fungus that gives rise to noble rot. Château La Tour Blanche produces elegant wines in the shady tranquillity of its cellars, bearing the colours of the appellation.
The vintage
The year 2022 can be characterised in particular by dry, scorching weather, preceding a mild autumn that advanced the gradual and even development of noble rot.
Winemaking and ageing
Manual harvest in 3 selections. Aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels.
Blend
Sémillon (85%)
Sauvignon Blanc (10%)
Muscadelle (5%)
