Despite a 2017 vintage of challenges, the Château Latour-Martillac 2017 confirms its position as a safe bet for the Pessac-Léognan appellation, located in the south of the Bordeaux region.

The 2017 vintage will be remembered for the frost that hit the Château Latour-Martillac vineyard. Extreme care taken in the vineyard through the excellent work of the Château's technical teams made it possible to extract the best of the 2017 vintage due to the considerable efforts that were taken to identify first and second generation vines. The preciousness of this vintage does not stop from emphasizing the quality of the berries, which display a lovely fruit acidity, freshness and aromatic intensity.

With a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (63%) complemented by Merlot (30%) and Petit Verdot (7%), the Château Latour-Martillac 2017 reveals the typicality of each grape variety from the great terroirs that gave birth to them.

At tasting, the nose reveals elegant Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of black fruit with intense blackcurrant and black cherry notes. The palate offers a dense and creamy texture that is vibrant and lively due to a fruity attack followed by a silky tannic structure. The ageing is done in 40% new barrels, and is subtly integrated, so the pureness of the fruit is preserved. A lovely Classified Growth of Graves with a precise style and a sure bet.
