    Vinum

Cooler than before, with clear fruit and unobtrusive oak; a supple palate, good harmony between fruit and tannins, nice length, sour cherry notes on the finish. A well-balanced wine.

    Decanter

Light expressions of ripe red fruit overshadowed by oak derived aromas presage a palate with raspberry and plum, but tannic austerity overshadows the impression and I notice a weak mid palate grip that I usually get from this estate in better vintages.

Smoky red fruits, flowers, tobacco, and cherries with hints of licorice fill the nose. On the palate, the wine is fresh, fruity, and clean, with more focus than in previous vintages due to a reduction in the amount of oak used in the aging process. 60% Merlot, with 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink from 2026-2038. 90-92 Pts.

    Falstaff

    Falstaff

Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, brightening on the rim. Fresh wild berries, red cherries, delicately floral, orange zest underneath. Medium body, some strawberry confit, subtle tannins, salty finish, offers uncomplicated drinking pleasure.

Inky purple, this has leafy but ripe fruit character, a hit of heat on the aromatics, a ton of cocoa dusted bilberry fruit, liqourice and salted cracker. Good stuff, Bernard Magrez owner.

    The estate

    The vintage

A classic winter is followed by a warm and dry spring, then a summer without excessive heat, punctuated by stormy episodes.

    Blend

This Château Les Grands Chênes 2023 is the result of the blend of Merlot (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%).
