Description
A red wine from Margaux with an exceptionally complex and strong character
Chateau Margaux is a Classified First Growth in the Margaux appellation. The terroir is typical of the region and has Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grape varieties planted. 2016 proves to be a historical and miraculous vintage. Temperatures in winter were so mild, that the soil was able to build reserves for the beginning of the maturation cycle. Spring was quite cool. Flowering and the appearance of fruit occurred in the beginning of June. The exceptionally dry summer gave way to unexpected ripening just before the rain in mid-September. This relief allowed the vines to mature perfectly throughout October. This splendid finish to the growing season produced gourmet fruit, which gave the wine a silky texture.
2016 produced a powerful wine that is sweet thanks to its ripe tannins. The balance is perfect between acidity and alcohol. Chateau Margaux 2016 is not as the 2009 and 2010 vintages. It is similar to the 2005 vintage. A pure wine with racy tannins that will go down as an exceptional vintage thanks to its complex character.
