Château Siran 2023
Marks and reviews
Description
A full and complex Margaux red wine
The estate
Owned by the Miailhe family for over 160 years, the Château Siran is one of the emblematic references of the Margaux appellation. Château Siran was already renowned for the quality of its wines as early as the 18th century.
The vineyard
The Château Siran 2023 is a Margaux wine from a 25-hectare vineyard, superbly located on soils composed of gravel and pebbles. The 38-year-old vines on average rest on hillocks made up of ancient alluvium and covered with fine clayey gravels. The vineyard is managed using reasoned viticulture and without chemical herbicide.
The wine
This vintage reveals a label created by the Italian artist Pietro Gallo, illustrating the theme of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its harmonisation with nature.
The vintage
The beginning of the year is marked by unstable conditions and a strong mildew pressure controlled thanks to the know-how of the teams. Warm but not excessive, August ensures optimal maturity of the grapes while preserving their freshness, before a September whose warm and dry conditions confer a beautiful concentration.
Vinification and ageing
Harvested manually in small crates, the grapes are subject to sorting in the vineyard as well as in the winery on sorting tables. Parcel vinification. Fermentation is carried out in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats from 60 to 180hl, accompanied by pumping over and racking according to the batches. Maceration at 26°C for 20 days. Malolactic fermentation is partly done in new barrels. The ageing lasts 12 months in French oak barrels (of which 35% are new).
Blend
The Château Siran 2023 is a blend of Merlot (49%), Cabernet Sauvignon (41%) and Petit Verdot (10%).
