Description
A powerful and refined red wine from Haut-Médoc
The property
Dominating the Gironde estuary for nearly three centuries, the Château Sociando-Mallet is one of the most respected properties in the Haut-Médoc. Owned by Sieur Sociando in the 17th century, the Mallet family added their name after acquiring the estate in the 19th century. Since 1969, the Gautreau family has been infusing their passion and energy into this emblematic property on the left bank of Bordeaux.
The vineyard
At the top of the Baleyron hill, in the town of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, the 79 hectares of this Haut-Médoc vineyard are planted on a gravel and clay soil resting on a clay-limestone subsoil. The vines, averaging 30 years old, are traditionally cultivated.
The blend is composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc.
