Description
2009 Saint-Georges-Saint-Emilion
The 2009 Cuvee Auguste from Chateau Troquart displays a dark dense blue tinted purple-ish colour. The nose starts off with four pepper blend, and reveals very expressive, rich and luscious black fruits (currant and mashed blackberries), red fruits (wild strawberries), as well as pleasant milky hints of Royal Anne cherry mixed with violet. With the swirl, Saint-Georges-Saint-Emilion wine exudes freshness with underlying liquorice. The vintage carries freshness and lovely dense aromas despite the sunny character. The palate offers a bold and very lively attack with a lot of substance. Tight grained tannins are very civilized, thick, and almost creamy. Retro-olfactive pepper, cherry, and balsamic notes add originality. Though the finish is even more discreet than the nose -the wine is a bit closed- there is no doubt that the 2009 Cuvee Auguste carried extraordinary ageing potential. Despite its 13.5% volume, this wine offers pleasant digestibility: a mark of meticulous winemaking techniques. Serious and obvious potential! Will peak in 2030.
