Characteristics and tasting advice for Delas' Clos 2020
Tasting
Color
The color, intense and deep, displays a strong ruby hue, punctuated with garnet reflections.
Nose
The nose expresses generous aromas of stewed black fruits, such as blackcurrant and blackberry. Upon aeration, it becomes more complex, revealing subtle notes of leather.
Palate
Harmonious and delicate, the palate is seduced by its volume, its velvety texture and its persistent finish on flavors of ripe black cherry.
Food and wine pairings
The Clos de Delas pairs ideally with waterfowl, a selection of grilled dishes, or even marinated meats or poultry.

The property
Founded in 1835, the Maison Delas Frères is a reference among the wines of the Northern Rhône Valley. While its purchase by the Deutz Champagne House in 1977 marks the beginning of a new era, the development of the house internationally will continue thanks to its acquisition in 1993 by the Rouzaud family, majority shareholder of the Louis Roederer group.
The vineyard
For over 180 years, Maison Delas Frères has been demonstrating its demanding standards and passion in the appellations of the Rhône Valley, with a particular focus on the northern part.
The wine
The Clos de Delas is produced exclusively in great years, from a rigorous selection of grapes from the Clos located on the Chassis plain within the Crozes-Hermitage appellation.
Vinification and aging
The grapes harvested at optimal maturity are vinified in open concrete vats after two days of pre-fermentation maceration at cold temperatures. Fermentation in thermo-regulated vats (28 - 30°C) accompanied by punch-downs and pump-overs daily for about ten days. The maceration lasts about twenty days. The aging of 10 to 14 months in barrels aged one to three years is punctuated by regular rackings to provide the necessary oxygen for the proper maturation of the tannins.
Grape variety
Syrah (100%)
