The finish seduces with its silky and velvety texture, leaving a persistent and vibrant imprint. This radiant fruit, this tactile finesse and these subtle notes of fresh leather reflect above all the authenticity of the terroir.

A red wine from Beaune from an exceptional terroir
The property
It was in Beaune, in 1731, that the House of Bouchard Père & Fils was founded. Accumulating almost three centuries of history, Bouchard Père & Fils is thus one of the oldest wine houses in Burgundy. At the head of an exceptional estate in Côte d'Or, the 9th generation of the family still perpetuates this unique know-how in the art of making great Burgundy wines. Patiently built up over the years, the vineyard of the Bouchard Père et Fils estate now extends over 130 hectares of vines.
The vineyard
This Beaune wine 1er cru "Grèves Vigne de L'Enfant Jésus" 2022 from Bouchard Père & Fils takes its name from a historical anecdote linked to the Carmelite Marguerite du Saint-Sacrement. Indeed, she would have predicted the birth of the future King of France despite the sterility of his mother Anne d’Autriche. This vineyard took the name of "Vigne de L'Enfant Jésus" at the birth of Louis XIV. Sold in 1791 during the sale of national goods, this 3.92 hectare terroir, facing east/south-east on a very gravelly clay-limestone soil, has since been the monopoly of the House of Bouchard Père & Fils.
This plot has the particularity of being among the first to be harvested each year.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage was marked by climatic challenges, with an early spring followed by frosts, but a warm and sunny summer allowed excellent ripening of the grapes, promising wines with a beautiful balance.
Vinification and aging
Harvested manually, the grapes undergo rigorous sorting as well as total or partial destemming depending on the vintage. Cool maceration at the beginning of vatting for a few days. Fermentation in small containers accompanied by punching down. Run-off after 18 to 20 days. The aging is carried out for 16 to 20 months in French oak barrels (of which 35 to 40% are new) in the Bastions cellars of the old Château de Beaune. Manual racking at the end of aging to assemble the different sub-plots.
Grape variety
Pinot noir (100%)
