Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for the 2019 Castellero from Brezza
Serving
This Barolo, from a great vintage, reveals all its aromatic richness after several years of aging. It is recommended to wait at least six years before opening it. Served between 16 and 18 °C, it is appreciated differently depending on its age: in a large glass if it is still young, after a few hours of rest in the bottle beyond 15 years, or decanted by candlelight for wines over 20 years old to eliminate any possible sediment.

The estate
Icon of the Barolo appellation, the Azienda Agricola Brezza Giacomo e Figli has been cultivating vines since 1885. The estate produced its first vintage in 1910 and remains today in the hands of the fourth generation of the Brezza family. Located 500 meters from the center of the village of Barolo, in the province of Coni in the north of Piedmont, the estate produces exceptional Italian wines, marked by elegance and authenticity.
The vineyard
This Piedmont estate extends over 31 hectares, including 20 hectares of vineyards classified in DOCG or DOC. The plots are located on prestigious terroirs of the appellation, notably in Monforte, Novello and Alba. Brezza owns among others a plot on the famous Cannubi cru, recognized since 1752 as the oldest cru in Italy. The vineyard is cultivated according to the principles of certified organic farming, with constant attention paid to the respect of the soil and the plant.
The wine
Coming from a small plot of 0.6920 hectare, the Barolo Castellero comes from vines planted on loamy-sandy soils, which give the wine finesse and structure.
