Tasting
This vintage combines the rhythm of 1989, the opulence of 1990, the intensity of the 2003 harvest, the concentration of 2001 and the legendary imprint of 1893. A masterful success, up to the greatest vintages in history
The structure and aromatic palette of a great Sauternes wine
The property
South of Bordeaux, the Château d'Yquem is one of the most beautiful references of the Sauternes appellation. This legendary Premier Cru Classé Supérieur enjoys an exceptional terroir and gives birth to globally sought-after sweet wines.
The vineyard
The Château d’Yquem is an extraordinary place, nestled in the heart of the hills of the Sauternes appellation, rich in a hundred hectares of vineyards planted on a mosaic of gravelly-sandy terroirs. If the estate extends over 113 hectares of vines, the vineyard in production spreads over about 100 hectares, benefiting from warm and dry soils on the surface with large gravels. The clay soils, on the other hand, allow for good water reserves.
The vintage
Exceptional weather conditions accompanied this vintage until the last day of the harvest, October 19. The berries, bathed in sunlight, reached perfect maturity, rich in sugar and sublimated by an ideal botrytization, alternating heat and providential rains.
Blend
Sémillon and sauvignon blanc.
