A Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru combining power and finesse

    The property

The Château de Marsannay, located in the heart of the Côte-de-Nuits appellation, covers an area of 34 hectares. Oscillating between 250 and 280 meters in altitude from the south of the city of Dijon to the commune of Vosne-Romanée, the terroir of the estate expresses through its mosaic of plots all the nuances and the typicity of these great Burgundy climates.

    The vineyard

The 1er cru "Champeaux" from Château de Marsannay is a Gevrey-Chambertin wine from the eponymous climate located north of the appellation. Covering an area of 29 ares, this terroir facing due east rests on a thin brown clay-limestone soil.

    Vinification and aging

The manually harvested grapes undergo rigorous sorting on the table. Following complete destemming, the berries are placed in thermoregulated wooden vats for pre-fermentation cold maceration. Alcoholic fermentation is accompanied by punch-downs and pump-overs to promote extraction. Pressing then aging for 12 months in barrels (75% new) supplemented by an additional 5 months of aging en masse.
