Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for the 2019 Pouilly-Fumé 101 Rangs from Château de Tracy
Tasting
Color
Shining, the golden yellow color is adorned with captivating golden reflections.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens up intense and complex, dominated by notes of boxwood and blackcurrant bud. We also discover aromas of sweet almond, fresh citrus such as lemon, candied orange and apricot jelly, complemented by nuances of green pepper and basil.
Palate
A frank attack, dominated by citrus flavors, precedes a palate whose freshness and exotic notes of mango stretch to a persistent, saline and floral finish.
Food and wine pairings
This wine pairs perfectly with noble fish, seafood or poultry in sauce. Its minerality and freshness also make it an ideal companion for goat cheeses from the Loire region.
Service and aging
Serve between 10 and 12°C. A slight aeration in a decanter 15 minutes before tasting will release all its aromatic potential. This wine can be kept until around 2029.
An exceptional Pouilly-Fumé wine from the flint terroirs of Château de Tracy
The property
Founded in the 14th century, the Château de Tracy, located in Pouilly-sur-Loire, extends over 35 hectares of vineyards spread between the hills of Tracy and Vilmoy. Managed by Countess A. d'Estutt d'Assay, the estate stands out for its environmental commitment and uninterrupted family history. The flint clay and Kimmeridgian limestone soils give the wines, exclusively made from Sauvignon Blanc, a unique aromatic complexity. Château de Tracy combines tradition and innovation, offering fine aging wines.
The vineyard
The 101 Rangs cuvée comes from an exceptional plot located on the Tracy hill, facing southwest. This Pouilly-Fumé terroir, a must-have appellation of Loire, is characterized by flint clay soils that give the wine its distinctive minerality and characteristic tension. The vine, planted in 1954, benefits from an ideal exposure allowing optimal grape maturation while preserving its freshness.
The vintage
The year 2019 was marked by a relatively dry climate, with a 30% decrease in water inputs compared to the previous year. These conditions favored a concentration of aromas and a beautiful grape maturity, while preserving a balancing acidity. Yields were naturally limited to 35 hl/ha, guaranteeing optimal quality of the harvested berries.
Blend
100% Sauvignon Blanc.
