Description
A refined and fresh Sauternes wine
The property
"La Maison Noble du Bayle", the first name of Château Guiraud was owned by the Mons de Saint Poly family. In 1766 Pierre Guiraud, a Bordeaux merchant, became the owner. In 80 years and three generations, Guiraud has become a prestigious grand cru, crowned in 1855 as the 1st Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes.
The vineyard
Château Guiraud, 1st Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes in 1855, is one of the must-see properties of the Sauternes appellation, located about thirty kilometers south of the Bordeaux region. The property benefits from an exceptional terroir with sandy gravel soils, clayey gravels and oyster limestone veins. This richness therefore gives all the complexity and typicality specific to the 1st Grand Cru Château Guiraud.
Blend
Sémillon (65%), sauvignon blanc (35%).
Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Guiraud 2010
Tasting
Nose
Hawthorn, fresh fruit and a hint of mint are all fragrances that blend in a harmonious nose.
Palate
The palate is seduced by its breadth, sweetness and hold. The vivacity of the botrytis, carried by a great freshness, energizes the whole. In perfect continuity with the nose, the aromas express themselves with crystalline precision and great purity up to a persistent and elegant finish.
