Description
An amazingly round red wine from Saint-Emilion
Classified Growth produced in the Saint-Emilion appellation, Chateau Larmande is a 17 hectare vineyard. The vines are, on average, 25 years old. The soil is composed of sand, terroir, limestone and clay. The vineyard has several grape varieties planted: 77% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged in oak barrels, 60% in new barrels.
2016 was strongly influenced by a humid winter and spring, with a lot of rain. Summer, on the other hand, was one of the warmest and driest since 1990. The rain in September, allowed the grapes to mature and produce an excellent yield. Harvest went smoothly from September 22 to October 18.
Chateau Larmande 2016 has an intense and bright red, violet colour. The nose is fresh, and has notes of pastries. The mouth is incredibly balanced and round, thanks to its creamy tannins. The finish is initially spicy, with hints of red fruits and cocoa.
