Château Le Prieuré 2024
Description
The elegance and balance of a Saint-Émilion wine
The estate
Since the 16th century, the vineyard of the Château Le Prieuré has been cultivated in the heart of Saint-Émilion. Formerly Premier Cru des Cordeliers, it was renamed at the dawn of the 20th century. A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé since 1955, Château Le Prieuré oversees a beautiful vineyard composed of several vineyard plots. The talented Pénélope Godefroy, oenologist and agronomist, produces harmonious crus that reveal all the complexity of the Saint-Émilion terroir.
The vineyard
This Château Le Prieuré 2024 is a Saint-Émilion wine from a 12-hectare vineyard, with 10.9 hectares in production, planted on the limestone plateau of the appellation. The vines, averaging 36 years old, are grown on clay-limestone soil in organic farming certified Ecocert since 2018, as well as with biodynamic practices.
The vintage
After a cooler and rainier May than usual, the flowering in early June took place under good conditions, with dry and mild weather (17°C). The summer, marked by a rainfall deficit and average temperatures, induced water stress for the vine. In September, cooler temperatures and more frequent showers required increased health vigilance.
Vinification and aging
The maceration takes place over a period of 20 days. The aging is carried out 50% in new barrels for 18 months.
Blend
The Château Le Prieuré 2024 is a blend of merlot (95%) and cabernet franc (5%).
