Description
Chateau Pedesclaux 2016: A balanced Pauillac
5th Classified Growth, Chateau Pedesclaux is a red wine produced in Pauillac. The 45.2 hectare vineyard has vines that are, on average, 35 years old. The vines are planted on gravel from the Garonne and limestone. Chateau Pedesclaux 2016 is a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc.
Chateau Pedesclaux began its 2016 growing season with a rainy winter and spring. This delicate weather was the antecedent for an extremely dry summer. Rain finally came in September, just in time to help the grapes through the final maturation phases. Harvest took place on September 29th to October 18th.
Chateau Pedesclaux 2016 has an intense red carmine colour. The nose is aromatic and complex. Aromas of blackberry jam, cherries, mint, caramel & rhubarb reveal themselves. Chateau Pedesclaux 2016 is sweet and ample in the mouth, displaying its soft and voluptuous characteristics. Hints of spices, liquorice and roasted hazelnuts can also be tasted. The finish is lively and offers fruity notes (forest fruits) and floral notes (sweetbriar).
