Description
Chateau Rauzan-Gassies 2016: A Margaux with very ripe tannins
Chateau Rauzan-Gassies is a Classified 2nd Growth produced in the Margaux appellation. The vineyard's soil is composed of gravel, which is typical of Margaux. Chateau Rauzan-Gassies 2016 is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot. The wine is matured in barrels, half of them are new.
The 2016 vintage is characterized by extreme weather conditions. Winter was followed by an extremely wet spring. The cool spring gave way to a warm and dry summer. Water retention was avoided, thanks to the quality of the terroir. Harvest began on September 29th and lasted until October 18th.
Chateau Rauzan-Gassies 2016 combines power and delicacy, with very ripe tannins. An incomparable balance between acidity and alcohol. A wine very similar to the 2005 vintage.
