The property
With origins dating back more than two thousand years, the Château Romanin was successively a spiritual high place for the Greeks, Gauls, and Christians. Located at the gates of Baux-de-Provence, Château Romanin has belonged to the Charmolüe family since 2006, former owners of Château Montrose, Second Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Estèphe.
The vineyard
This Château Romanin is a wine from Baux-de-Provence, produced from a 58-hectare vineyard planted on sandy-limestone to sandy-clay-limestone soil on the northern slope of the Alpilles massif. Managed biodynamically, this vineyard produces cuvées vinified and aged in an underground cellar covered with vegetated earth, thus ensuring harmony between vine cultivation and cellar work.
Vinification and aging
Following manual harvesting, the bunches are cooled in a cold room (10°C) for 24 hours. After settling, the alcoholic fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks, as is the aging on fine lees for about 5 months with regular stirring.
