Description
A Sauternes wine seductive in complexity and finesse
The property
With harvests carried out for the first time in 1618, the Clos Haut-Peyraguey is a historic property of Sauternes. This 1st Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes in 1855 is also the smallest of the appellation in surface area as it extends over 8.5 hectares. Located on the highest lands of the Bommes hill, Clos Haut-Peyraguey takes its name from Peyraguey which means hill or promontory. Acquired in 2012 by Bernard Magrez, Clos Haut-Peyraguey is among the most beautiful classified growths of Sauternes.
The vineyard
This Sauternes property watches over a 12-hectare vineyard whose vines, aged 35 to 40 years, are planted at the top of the Bommes hill, on gravelly-sandy soils resting on clay subsoils.
Vinification and aging
Light settling. Fermentation in barrels (60% new and 40% of one wine) then aging in new barrels and of one wine in the same proportion as the alcoholic fermentation for 22 months.
Blend
This Clos Haut-Peyraguey 2007 is the result of a blend of 92% sémillon and 8% sauvignon blanc.
