Description
The gourmandise and generosity of a fine red wine from Pessac-Léognan
The estate
The name of Domaine de La Solitude originates from a rule of the community of the Holy Family: to pray in the silence of solitude. The community moved to the estate in the 19th century. The nuns decide to entrust the wine management of this Pessac-Léognan estate to outside parties. Since 1993, Olivier Bernard has been managing the estate. A very old property of Martillac, Domaine de la Solitude is distinguished by the quality of its wines, offering fantastic value for money. These wines are accessible in their youth, but also promise good evolution over years of ageing in bottle.
The vineyard
The red vineyard of Domaine de la Solitude covers 30 hectares in gravelly soil on clay-gravelly subsoils.
The winemaking
Manual harvest from September 27 to October 11. Sorting on the table. Gravity vatting.
The ageing
Aged for 1 year in barrels. First months of ageing on lees.
The blend
Cabernet sauvignon (60%), merlot (35%), petit verdot (5%)
The tasting
Tasted en primeur, the Domaine de la Solitude 2019 red is a wine with a ripe profile, along with a classic and refined style. The bouquet is attractive and generous, full of black fruit. On the palate, this great Bordeaux wine is rich and smooth. Full of harmony, the mid-palate reveals supple tannins, a fruit-forward profile and delicious texture. Already very accessible, the Domaine de la Solitude rouge 2019 will also evolve perfectly over the next decade in bottle.
