Description
A seductive white wine from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, full of complexity and minerality
The estate
The Domaine des Sénéchaux is a vineyard whose origins date back to the 14th century. Taking its name from the Bois Sénéchaux district, one of the most important plots of the estate, Domaine des Sénéchaux was acquired in 2006 by the Cazes family, owners of the prestigious Château Lynch-Bages, a Grand Cru Classé from Pauillac.
The vineyard
The Domaine des Sénéchaux oversees a 3-hectare plot that produces a great Châteauneuf-du-Pape white wine. Facing south/southwest, the vines are planted on a superficial soil composed of sand, clay, and limestone.
The vintage
The dry and mild conditions of winter, as well as the spring heat peaks, favor an early bud break of the vine. Ideal conditions during the summer ensure regular and homogeneous maturity.
Vinification and aging
Following the harvest, the grapes are introduced into a press by gravity, with a slight crushing. Skin maceration on the roussanne and clairette grape varieties. Cold settling before thermoregulated vinification. The aging is carried out 25% in barrels of one wine (roussanne) and 75% in vats.
Blend
Roussanne (36%)
Clairette (30%)
White Grenache (25%)
Bourboulenc (9%).
