Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for the 15 Year Old G&M2005 from Benriach
Tasting
Appearance
A beautiful bronze hue, enhanced by delicate golden reflections that capture the light.
Nose
A rich and complex bouquet revealing notes of melting caramel, crisp red apple, and lemon cheesecake. Vanilla harmoniously blends with tropical fruits, all wrapped in a subtle herbaceous sweetness.
Palate
The attack reveals flavors of sweet pineapple and Seville orange, counterbalanced by touches of black pepper. Honey and white chocolate bring a creamy indulgence, while poached pear adds a refined fruity dimension. This non-peated single malt offers a remarkable finish where notes of spices and subtle citrus are expressed. Bottled at its natural cask strength, it retains all its power and authentic character, without cold filtration or coloring.
Pairings and tasting moments
This exceptional single malt is ideally enjoyed at the end of the evening, in a tulip glass that concentrates its complex aromas. Serve it at room temperature, possibly with a few drops of pure water to release all its aromatic nuances. It will perfectly accompany a fruit dessert or a platter of mature cheeses.
A Speyside single malt of rare intensity and fruity complexity
Benriach, the innovative spirit of Speyside
Founded in 1898 by John Duff in the Speyside region near Elgin, the Benriach distillery has had a tumultuous history. After an early closure due to the Pattison crash, it came back to life in 1965 under the direction of Glenlivet Distillers. In 2004, Billy Walker gave it a new impetus before its acquisition by Brown-Forman in 2016. Benriach stands out for its production of three styles of Scotch whisky: non-peated, peated, and triple distillation. Its unique four-water mash process and innovative cask management give it a singular identity. Today, under the creative direction of Dr. Rachel Barrie, a renowned master blender, Benriach perpetuates a heritage of tradition and innovation that makes its reputation in the world of whisky.
An exceptional bottling signed Gordon & MacPhail
This Benriach 15-year-old vintage 2005 is the result of the expertise of the famous independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail, known for its rigorous selection of the best Scottish casks. Distilled in 2005 and bottled after 15 years of maturation, this single malt testifies to the know-how of two prestigious houses of Scotch whisky.
The particularity of this edition lies in its exclusive aging in "Refill American Hogshead" type casks, which gives the spirit a perfect balance between the fruity notes characteristic of Benriach and the vanilla aromas brought by American oak. Bottled at its natural strength of 59.6%, this whisky retains all its aromatic richness and power.
Presented in an elegant case, this Benriach is part of a limited selection that perfectly illustrates the fruity and complex style of the distillery, while benefiting from the expertise of Gordon & MacPhail in the art of maturation. A true collector's item for lovers of exceptional Speyside single malts.
