Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for the 2022 André Brunel Réservée

Tasting

Nose
The nose reveals dominant aromas of red and black fruits, offering a beautiful aromatic expression characteristic of the great wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Palate
On the palate, this wine stands out for its harmonious and elegant tannins that give a silky texture. The balance is perfect, with a beautiful structure that supports the fruity aromas. After a few years of aging, the wine develops notes of leather and undergrowth, gaining in elegance and length.

Food and wine pairings

The 2022 Réservée Cuvée perfectly accompanies red meats and game, enhancing their flavors. Its tannic structure and aromatic richness make it an ideal companion for stewed dishes or grills.

Service and aging

To fully appreciate this wine, serve it between 16 and 18°C. This wine can be enjoyed now for its fresh red fruit aromas, but it will express its full potential after a minimum of 5 years of aging. Its peak will be around 2032, and it can continue to evolve favorably beyond that.

The richness and elegance of a Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine

The property

The André Brunel Estate, founded in the 17th century near Châteauneuf-du-Pape, extends over 21 hectares in this appellation, as well as over 40 hectares in Côtes-du-Rhône and 30 hectares in Vin de Pays de Vaucluse. Under the direction of Fabrice Brunel since 2022, the estate stands out for its sustainable practices, such as grassing and vinification in concrete vats. The vineyard, mainly composed of grenache, syrah, cinsault and mourvèdre, produces wines recognized for their minerality and finesse in the Rhône Valley.

The vineyard

The Réservée Cuvée comes from vines that are 40 years old on average, grown on two complementary types of terroirs in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The grenache is planted on sandy soils that bring roundness and fruity richness, while the syrah develops on pebble soils, giving the wine powerful and structured tannins.

Vinification and aging

The harvest is carried out exclusively by hand, allowing a rigorous selection of grapes. Total destemming of the grapes. Daily pump-overs for four weeks. The aging then takes place for a minimum of 12 months in vats, without passing through barrels, thus preserving the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir.

Blend

Grenache (80%), syrah (20%)
