Description
Domaine des Ardoisières produces a fresh and lively Savoie wine
The estate
Founded in 1998 by Michel Grisard as the replanting of the Cevins hillside, the Domaine des Ardoisières is the star of quality revival in the Savoie wine region. Michel Grisard, an authentic biodynamic winegrower, was joined in 2003 by Brice Omont, an agricultural engineer from the Champagne region, in seeing this ambitious project through. Brice Omont has been running the estate since 2010, along with 12 silent partners.
The vineyard
Argile 2020 is an IGP Vin des Allobroges wine that comes from a vineyard on the hillside of Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy and Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte, on schist marl soils and clay-limestone scree. The vines were cultivated on hillsides and face west and south.
Winemaking and ageing
Following the harvest, the grapes were sorted by hand then put in open vats without destemming (the entire harvest) to preserve their quality. Alcoholic fermentation took place with indigenous yeasts belonging to each plot of the terroir. Devatting and pressing took place after 2-3 weeks of maceration, according to the vintage. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was funneled into barrels where it aged for 9 months before being bottled.
Blend
Gamay (65%)
Mondeuse noire (25%)
