Description
An IGP Côtes Catalanes white wine with delicious freshness and a fruity expression
The estate
Voted France's Best Young Sommelier at the age of 21, Hervé Bizeul fell in love with the magical landscapes of the majestic Cirque de Vingrau, at the foot of the Pyrénées Orientales in the Roussillon region. A restaurateur, writer and passionate about the land and the vines, Hervé Bizeul founded the Domaine du Clos des Fées with his wife in 1997.
Over the years, Domaine du Clos des Fées has become a benchmark among the finest wine labels in Roussillon. Expressing the unique character of their terroir of origin, these exceptional cuvées delight with their intensity and balance, while offering great ageing potential.
The vineyard
A benchmark among the great wines of the Roussillon, Domaine du Clos des Fées looks after its clay-limestone vineyards, which are farmed using sustainable methods.
The wine
Domaine du Clos des Fées' Grenache Blanc Vieilles Vignes 2022 is an IGP Côtes Catalanes wine produced from century-old vines planted on a 3.5-hectare plot in the commune of Opoul. This plot of clay-limestone soil is placed at an altitude of 300 metres and is swept by the wind more than 250 days a year.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvested by hand, the grapes undergo slow fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats for the white Grenache and in five-wine barrels with stirring for the grey Grenache. Aged on the lees for 8 months.
Blend
Grenache Blanc (94%)
Grenache Gris (6%)
