The property

After more than 125 years of existence, the Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is an emblem of the wines of the Rhône Valley. Named after one of the relay towers installed on the estate in 1821 by Claude Chappe, the inventor of the optical telegraph, the property has been operated by the Brunier family for six generations. The Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is located within the La Crau plateau, southeast of the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation. Of the 70 hectares that make up the Domain, 65 are dedicated to red wines and 5 to white wines.

The wine

This Châteauneuf du Pape wine is made from young vines less than 30 years old, as well as older plots not located on the plateaus of La Crau or Piedlong.

Vinification and aging

The harvest is done manually with a double sorting of the crop in the vineyard, followed by a third sorting in the winery. Systematic destemming, traditional fermentation in vats for 25-30 days. Controlled temperatures. Pneumatic pressing, systematic malolactic fermentation. This cuvée was aged for 15 to 16 months in French oak casks of 30 to 60 hectoliters. Bottling is carried out without fining or filtration. The wine is released 18 months later.

Grenache, syrah, mourvèdre, cinsault.
