    The estate

Located in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation and dating back to 1365, the Château Smith Haut Lafitte is one of the oldest châteaux in Bordeaux. This magnificent estate entered a new era of its history following its purchase by Daniel and Florence Cathiard in 1990. Driven with passion and ambition by the Cathiard couple, Château Smith Haut Laffite has risen to the rank of the most beautiful properties in Graves with crus worldwide renowned for their elegance and style, in red as in white.

    The vineyard

Château Smith Haut Laffite is a Pessac-Léognan wine overseeing a 78-hectare vineyard.

    The wine

Produced from vines averaging 12 years old from a mass selection and made from rootstocks from mother vines of the estate, Petit Smith Haut Lafitte is the Second Wine of the estate.

    Vinification and ageing

Following a double pre and post destemming sorting, the non-crushed grapes are transferred to vats for fermentation. The extraction is carried out by gentle punch-downs and/or pump-overs. The ageing lasts 14 months in barrels (20% new wood) made in the cooperage integrated into the estate.

    Blend

    Cabernet Sauvignon (60%)
    Merlot (40%).
