The estate
Established in 1808 in Tain-L’Hermitage, the M. Chapoutier House today embodies the elite of the greatest names in Rhône Valley wines.
As a winemaker and merchant, Michel Chapoutier has managed to lead this family business to the top over the vintages. The wines of Maison Chapoutier are recognized for their refinement and high quality by the finest connoisseurs beyond borders. A man of many hats, Michel Chapoutier holds the world record for 100/100 scores awarded by American critic Robert Parker. Mathilde, Michel Chapoutier's daughter, has taken up the torch of this iconic house, overseeing a vineyard of over 350 hectares across the most prestigious appellations of the northern and southern Rhône Valley.
Over the vintages, Maison M. Chapoutier has developed its know-how in vineyards in Alsace, Roussillon, and Australia.
The vineyard
Bila-Haut V.I.T. 2018 from M. Chapoutier is a wine from Côtes du Roussillon Villages made from vines planted on clay-limestone and schist soils.
Vinification and aging
Hand harvesting. Long maceration (4 weeks) accompanied by punch-downs to promote optimal extraction. Parcel aging, in tanks for the grenache and in demi-muids for the syrah. The blend is made after 18 months of aging.

Tasting
Color
Bright, the color has an intense garnet hue, enhanced by subtle violet reflections.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet, complex and expressive, opens with notes of very ripe fruits (elderberry, blackberries) and continues with spicy touches of pepper and garrigue.
Palate
Dominated by spices, the full-bodied palate charms with its silky tannins and its persistent and airy finish.
Food and wine pairing
This Roussillon wine pairs ideally with lamb.
Service
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to decant this wine before serving it between 17 and 18°C.
Cellaring
