Established since 1808 in Tain-L’Hermitage, the M. Chapoutier House today embodies the elite of the greatest names in Rhône Valley wines.

As a winemaker and merchant, Michel Chapoutier has managed to lead this family business to the top over the vintages. The wines of Maison Chapoutier are recognized for their refinement and high quality by the finest connoisseurs beyond borders. A man of many hats, Michel Chapoutier holds the world record for 100/100 scores awarded by American critic Robert Parker. Mathilde, Michel Chapoutier's daughter, has taken up the torch of this iconic house, overseeing a vineyard of over 350 hectares across the most prestigious appellations of the northern and southern Rhône Valley.

Over the vintages, Maison M. Chapoutier has developed its know-how in vineyards in Alsace, Roussillon and Australia.

The vineyard

Domaine Terlato and Chapoutier "Saddleback" from M. Chapoutier is a Pyrenees wine, appellation located in the heart of Victoria province in Australia. The vineyard is planted on soil composed of siltite, layers of red and yellow podzol, and quartz.

Vinification and aging

After the harvest, the grapes are destemmed and then transferred to cement or stainless steel tanks for fermentation. The maceration varies from 4 to 6 weeks. Light pump-overs and a long maceration on skins ensure an extraction of the finest and most elegant tannins. Aging for 18 months in French wood barrels.
