The estate

Xavier Vignon is an exceptional winegrower and has been considered one of the greatest specialists in the southern Rhône Valley for over twenty years. Each wine by Xavier Vignon accurately reflects this desire to reveal the identity of the great terroirs of the Rhône, while at the same time having its own identity: that of Xavier Vignon. His exclusive creations highlight his creativity, such as the Arcane collection, which promises wine lovers an incredible sensory and taste experience.

The vineyard

All the wines signed Xavier Vignon are produced from the Rhône Valley. For the Arcane collection, the winemaker carefully chooses his terroirs to explore their full potential. Arcane XV Le Diable 2015 is made from 17 different plots of land in the Vaucluse. Red clays, blue clays, pebbles, urgonian and sands make up the geological mosaic of terroirs from which came this wine.

The wine

This Vin de France wine goes beyond any restrictive understanding of the appellation to freely maximise the intense and profound expression of the Mourvèdre grape.

Winemaking and ageing

After being harvested by hand with partial de-stemming, the grapes were taken to the cellar. During the vinification phase, the selection of terroirs was made according to the concentration of mineral salts. A pre-fermentation cold maceration phase was carried out for 3 weeks to encourage the diffusion of aromatic compounds. 30% of the wine was aged in new Austrian oak barrels with slight heating and 70% in small concrete vats.

Tasting

Colour
The nearly black colour of Arcane XV Le Diable 2015 first bewitches the eye.

Nose
The charm comes from the wine’s nose, which is reminiscent of the scents of the herbs of Mediterranean scrub and reveals an explosion of black fruit, blackberry and blueberry aromas.

Palate
The palate reveals a beautiful structure and a remarkably balanced tannic framework. The finish is long and lingers on notes of liquorice and black fruit.

Storage

This incredible wine can be enjoyed immediately, and can be laid down until 2025.
