Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for Albert Bichot's Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2018
Tasting
Nose
The bouquet captivates with its refined aromas of raspberry, redcurrant, and violet. Over time, these fruity notes give way to more animal and spicy nuances, while preserving a beautiful freshness.
Palate
The palate combines power and finesse, offering a silky and generous texture. The melted tannins support a vibrant fruit, in a structure that is both deep and harmonious.
Food and wine pairings
This grand cru ideally harmonizes with red meats or game. It also reveals all its complexity alongside strong and refined cheeses such as Époisses or Soumaintrain.
Service and aging
Serve between 16°C and 18°C. Aeration in a decanter for an hour is recommended for young vintages. This wine can be stored in the cellar between 2028 and 2038 approximately, or even longer under good storage conditions.

The property
Founded in 1831 by Bernard Bichot in Monthélie, the Albert Bichot house has established itself in Beaune, becoming one of the last family-owned trading houses in Burgundy. Under the direction of Albéric Bichot, sixth generation, it now owns over 100 hectares spread over six prestigious estates, covering major appellations such as Chablis, Côte de Nuits, and Beaujolais. The house stands out for its sustainable practices, notably organic farming, and its parcel-by-parcel winemaking, guaranteeing an authentic expression of the Burgundian terroirs.
The vineyard
The Charmes-Chambertin is one of the nine grand crus of Gevrey-Chambertin, located in the prestigious Côte de Nuits. This cuvée comes from a selection of plots resting on a clay-limestone soil, enriched with silts and gravelly scree in the upper part.
Vinification and aging
Fermentation for 20 to 25 days in oak conical vats. The aging then takes place entirely in oak barrels, 50% of which are new wood, for a period of 14 to 16 months.
Grape variety
100% pinot noir.
