Description
The refinement and expression of a white wine from Burgundy
The property
Daughter of one of the most prominent wine families in Burgundy, Francine Picard took over the estate historically run by her father in the late 1990s. The Au Pied du Mont Chauve estate spans the communes of Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin, at the heart of the most beautiful climates and terroirs of the Burgundy wine region.
In a desire for synergy between the land and the wines, Francine Picard cultivates her plots respecting the principles of biodynamics and applies herself with passion and extreme attention to produce wines reflecting the identity of their terroir. Coming from a vineyard of a surface of 110 hectares worked in "agro-ecology", the chardonnay and the pinot noir of the Domaine Au Pied du Mont Chauve are recognized for their quality, their precision and their elegance.
Since May 2019, Antoine Lepetit de la Bigne, a specialist in biodynamic viticulture, has joined the Domaine's team as Technical Director.
The vineyard
This Chassagne-Montrachet En Pimont comes from vines mainly planted in the mid-1970s on a limestone plot. Located below the premier crus of Chassagne, this steep plot situated at 250 meters altitude and facing due east is composed of a brown limestone soil, poor and very shallow.
Vinification and aging
Harvested and sorted by hand, the grapes are pressed whole. In pure respect of Burgundy tradition, alcoholic fermentation is carried out in barrels. The aging lasts 18 months on lees, including 10 months in oak (Burgundy piece).
Blend
This Chassagne-Montrachet En Pimont 2022 from the Domaine Au Pied du Mont Chauve is a 100% chardonnay.
