Description

A rare and refined box set uniting three vintages of a great Central Valley Chilean wine

The estate

The Chadwick family has continued a passion for producing great Chilean wines since 1870, when Don Maximiano Errázuriz founded Viña Errázuriz in the Aconcagua Valley.

Located in Puente Alto D.O. in the Maipo Valley, Viñedo Chadwick honours the memory of Don Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz, father of Eduardo Chadwick. A passionate and visionary winegrower, Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz created the first wine brokerage in Chile in the early 1930s and in 1942 acquired nearly 300 hectares of fields and vineyards with the ambition of modernising the production of Chilean wines and actively participating in the development of their reputation. Having taken over the management of Viña Errázuriz in 1983, Don Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz was joined by his son, Eduardo, who, since his father's death in 1993, has continued the family's quest for excellence and passion for producing great Central Valley wines.

Don Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz was also recognised as one of the best polo players in Chilean history. His passion for the sport led him to build his own polo field on the family estate, and two polo poles are still standing on the field, which is now a plot of land that produces exceptional wines in honour of Don Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz.

The vineyard

Viñedo Chadwick oversees a 15-hectare vineyard of Cabernet Sauvignon planted in 1992, producing great Central Valley wines in limited quantities with a refinement, freshness and elegance that boast international renown. In 2004 at the iconic Berlin Tasting, the Chadwick Vineyard 2000, the second vintage produced by the estate, was ranked first ahead of Italian Super Tuscans and Bordeaux Premier Grand Crus. In May 2016, Viñedo Chadwick 2014 was rated 100/100 by critic James Suckling.

The wine

Unveiled in an elegant wooden box set, this Viñedo Chadwick Vertical Library Edition 2023 Case brings together three vintages that have entered into the history of the estate from the Chadwick family's private library : 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Three vintages, three singular expressions of a great Maipo Valley terroir:

Viñedo Chadwick 2009

The 2009 vintage will be remembered for its particularly hot conditions and its complexity and delights with its complexity.

The nose is intense, mixing fragrances of cedar, cigar box but also ripe red fruits (cherry, raspberry). The palate reveals its concentration, its balance and the finesse of its tannins until a finish whose persistence suggests a potential for ageing of about twelve years.

Viñedo Chadwick 2010

A year in which the cool weather advanced a slow and gradual ripening of the grapes, 2010 opens with a subtle herbaceous nose. The palate allures with its balance, its fruity structure, its fine tannins and its length. A deep wine with an ageing potential of around 10 years.

Viñedo Chadwick 2011

The cool conditions recorded during the year slowed down the growth of the vineyard, 2011 is a rich and balanced vintage. Elegant, this wine opens with a bouquet of refreshing floral and herbaceous notes. The palate delicately reveals its precision, its aromatic concentration and its silky feel. A vintage that can be laid down for ten years or so to bring out all its aromatic richness.

Blend

The three vintages making up this exceptional box set are produced exclusively from Cabernet Sauvignon.
