Since 1870, when Don Maximiano Errázuriz founded Viña Errázuriz in the Aconcagua Valley, the Chadwick family has been excelling in producing fine Chilean wines.
Viñedo Chadwick, a winery located in Puente Alto D.O. in the Maipo Valley, honours the memory of a passionate and visionary man: Don Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz, the father of Eduardo Chadwick.
Founder of the first wine brokerage in Chile in the early 1930s, Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz was eager to elevate the reputation of Chilean wines beyond the country's borders, notably by modernising the estate’s wine-making techniques. In 1942, he acquired nearly 300 hectares of fields and vineyards and in 1983, he took over the running of Viña Errázuriz.
Don Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz is also passionate about wine and sport. Regarded as one of the best polo players in the history of Chile, he had his own polo field built on the family estate. Today, two polo goal posts are poised on this field, which has become one of the most beautiful parts of the estate.
His son, Eduardo, joined the estate and, since his father's death in 1993, has continued to drive forward the family's quest for excellence and their age-old passion for producing fine Central Valley wines.
Viñedo Chadwick watches over a 15-hectare vineyard whose wines, produced in limited quantities, are internationally renowned for their refinement and freshness.
In 2004 at the iconic Berlin Tasting, the Chadwick Vineyard 2000, the second vintage produced by the estate, was ranked first ahead of Italian Super Tuscan wines and Bordeaux Premiers Grands Crus. In May 2016, Viñedo Chadwick 2014 was bestowed a 100/100 score by the famous wine critic, James Suckling.
