Description
A structured and complex Burgundy red wine
The estate
Founded in 1750, Chanson is one of the most famous houses in Burgundy. The estate is located in a bastion erected at the beginning of the 16th century as a watchtower with 8-metre thick walls, nicknamed "La Tour des Filles" and today dedicated to the ageing of its wines. Well known to lovers of great Burgundy wines, Domaine Chanson offers exclusive cuvées that brilliantly reveal the expression of the terroir from the greatest villages of the Côte de Beaune.
Domaine Chanson stretches across 45 hectares of vineyards in the most beautiful appellations of the Côte de Beaune (Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune, Savigny-Les-Beaune, Corton...), exclusively in Premier and Grand Crus.
The vineyard
The Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2014 from Chanson is produced from the eponymous vineyard located in the southern part of Gevrey Chambertin. This east-facing, mid-slope terroir, with its clay-limestone soil, produces delicious Charmes-Chambertin wines with a rich aromatic palette.
The vintage
A mild and rainy start to the year was followed by a period of frost in mid-April. The high temperatures in May were ideal for the vines. The end of July, marked by a strong hail storm, gave way to a cool August with some rain. It was at the beginning of September that the grapes were able to reach an ideal level of ripeness. The harvest took place at the end of September under summer temperatures.
Winemaking and ageing
took place in oak casks over a period of 16 months.
