Description
A Fine, Delicious and Seductive Grand Cru from Margaux
With a classic expression worthy of the greatest wines of Margaux, the Grand Cru Classé Château Boyd-Cantenac is one of the most beautiful references of the prestigious appellation on the Left Bank of the Bordeaux region.
Managed with the utmost care by the Guillemet family, this superb property has become a real emblem of Margaux, with ever more attractive wines of great quality vintage after vintage.
The vineyard of Château Boyd-Cantenac was not spared by the episodes of frost at the end of April 2017 and the Merlot was particularly affected. The typical Médoc blend is therefore dominated by a higher proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon than in previous vintages (76%), supplemented by Merlot (11%), Petit Verdot (6%) and Cabernet Franc (7%).
The climatic conditions allowed for a successful harvest, carried out on a parcel-by-parcel basis, at the optimal moment of ripeness for each grape variety, making it possible to get the best out of this “winemaker’s vintage.” Product of carefully planned slow extractions, the Château Boyd-Cantenac 2017 presents a superb Margaux, which reveals pure, fruity and fresh aromas, while the palate offers finesse and elegance. Silky and velvety, the tannins greet the palate with that touch so typical of Margaux, while the Cabernet endows the wine with an elegant frame, emphasizing the depth of the fruit in the center of the palate. The slight astringency at the end of the mouth echoes the raising of this wine. A Margaux full of charm, which will improve superbly over time.
