Description
The balance and the fruity framework of a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé
The estate
Nestling on the heights of the Saint-Émilion limestone plateau, Château Canon enjoys an exceptional location. Situated on the right bank of Bordeaux, this superb estate takes its name from the famous sailor and privateer of the King, Jacques Kanon. Château Canon was awarded the title of Premier Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion in 1954.
The vineyard
Château Canon is a Saint-Émilion wine made from vines planted on clay-limestone soils.
The vintage
A mild, dry winter preceded heat waves in the spring, with temperatures rising throughout the season. Thunderstorms occurred during the transition from spring to summer. The limestone soils were conducive to water conservation on the plateau, despite a summer marked by drought and intense heat.
Winemaking and ageing
Vinification by plot, vatting by gravity in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Aged for 18 months in barrels (50% new), including 4 foudres.
Blend
Merlot (75%)
Cabernet Franc (25%)
