A generous and delicate fine wine from Pauillac

The estate
Château Croizet-Bages, a Classified growth of Pauillac, was born in the 17th century. Bolstered by its prestige, the Château stood out during the universal exhibitions of the 19th century. In 1942, the estate was purchased by a merchant by the name of Paul Quié, whose family is still at the head of this prestigious property.

The vineyard
The 27-hectare vineyard of this great Bordeaux estate is situated on the Bages plateau, characterised by deep gravel and gravelly sand soils. The vines are leaf-stripped before harvest and pruned Poussard.

The vintage
The 2019 vintage combined several significant climatic episodes. Overall characterised by moderate heat and some rain, 2019 yielded very ripe Merlot and fresh Cabernet, whose blend is already very promising.

The winemaking
Harvest from September 18 to 25 for Merlot, from September 27 to October 10 for Carbernet Sauvignon. Vinification in stainless steel tanks. Plot selection. Temperature controlled fermentation from 26 to 28 ° C. Daily pumping-over.

The ageing
12 months in French oak barrels. 50% new barrels.

The blend
Cabernet sauvignon (66%), merlot (34%)

The tasting
The Croizet-Bages 2019 offers great generosity and a delicate density in the glass. The tannins are tight and tasty.
