The estate

Owned by the Devillard family for 3 generations, Château de Chamirey came into the family fold in 1932. Today, the estate oversees after 37 hectares of vines, making it the largest in Mercurey. Built on a rocky spur in the 18th century, Château de Chamirey enjoys a privileged location in the heart of the best terroirs of Mercurey in the Côte Chalonnaise. With a total of 6 Premier Crus, they are famous for their Premier Cru 'Clos des Ruelles' red monopoly and Premier Cru 'La Mission' white monopoly, the exceptional terroirs for which Château de Chamirey is renowned.

The wine

The "La Mission" Premier Cru plot, in Mercurey, is a monopoly held by Château de Chamirey, an exceptional terroir for which the estate is renowned.

The vineyard

The vines in this plot, the oldest of which were planted in 1961 and the youngest in 1997, cover 1.9240 hectares. They face east, on a rocky limestone terrace just above the Premier Cru 'Clos du Roi,' providing ideal growing conditions.

Winemaking and ageing

To guarantee optimum quality, the grapes are harvested by hand. Once the harvest is complete, it is carefully sorted and then pressed in its entirety. After pressing, the juice is settled for 12 to 24 hours at a controlled temperature. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentations of this Mercurey wine are then carried out in oak barrels. After fermentation, the wine is aged entirely in oak barrels before being transferred to stainless steel vats to complete the process.
