Château Faugères 2016

A harmonious Saint-Émilion Grand Cru red wine

A Grand Cru Classé of the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, Château Faugères originates from a vineyard of 37 hectares planted on clay-limestone soils characteristic to the appellation. The wine is aged in French oak barrels (50% in new barrels) for 15 months. The Château Faugères 2016 blends 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.

After significant rainfall up until June, summer settled rapidly, marked by heat and drought. The clay-limestone terroir of Château Faugères managed to fight against these extreme conditions, with the few showers of September 13^th providing enough water to perfect the maturation of the berries, also aided significantly by a splendid Indian Summer.

At the time of tasting the Château Faugères 2016 presents a beautiful evenness, is balanced and very harmonious. This vintage is marked by great freshness and a richness in fruits.
