Description
The refined style of a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé
The Grand Vin of the estate, the Château Fleur Cardinale Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé reveals the true terroir characteristics of Saint-Émilion, an emblematic appellation of the Right Bank of Bordeaux.
The Château La Fleur Cardinale estate includes a vineyard of 22.5 hectares, on a mosaic of terroirs with 7 different soils and subsoils of clay-limestone. The planting is dominated by Merlot (76%), followed by Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (4%).
The 2018 vintage will be remembered for the new technical team and new viticultural methods put in place at Château Fleur Cardinale. The soil was prepared with winter seedlings of grasses and leguminous plants. During the flowering, the vine was sprayed with a kind of seaweed cream that helped with physiological regulation of the plant. The implementation of these natural farming methods allowed the vine to achieve perfect physiological balance and withstand the climatic challenges, which included significantly wet conditions until the month of June.
The harvest began on September 27, making it the earliest in the history of the property, and continued until October 24. These "haute-couture" grape harvests yielded perfectly ripened fruit with a great aromatic freshness.
Bright and fresh, the Château Fleur Cardinale 2018 displays the signature style of Château Fleur Cardinale, with a magnificent structure and beautiful velvety grain tannins. The gorgeous Cabernet Franc stands out clearly in the blend of this vintage. Refined, structured and elegant, the Château Fleur Cardinale 2018 is a beautiful testament to the excellence of Saint-Émilion.
