    Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for the 2023 Juliénas from Château-Fuissé

    Tasting

    Color
With a beautiful deep ruby color, this wine offers a clear and bright color.

    Nose
The bouquet is fresh and powerful, revealing floral notes of peony accompanied by red fruit aromas such as peppered cherry, blackcurrant, and raspberry.

    Palate
The palate is fine and ample, carried by a mineral and mentholated structure. The structure is round and concentrated, with silky tannins. The finish, fresh and intense, offers a beautiful length with fine and well-integrated tannins.

    Food and wine pairings

This light red wine will perfectly accompany grilled dishes, charcuterie, composed salads, and cheeses. It will also pair well with red meats and grilled fish.

    Service and aging

The 2023 Juliénas is tasted at 14°C and can be kept until around 2031.

    The property

Located in Fuissé in Burgundy, the Château-Fuissé is a historic estate whose foundations date back to the 10th century. Currently led by Antoine Vincent, representing the fifth family generation, the estate covers 40 hectares. In 2020, the "Le Clos" and "Les Brules" vineyards were classified as Premier Cru, a rare distinction in Beaujolais.

    The vineyard

The Juliénas vineyard thrives on a terroir dominated by granite and shale, benefiting from a southern exposure on well-drained slopes. The planting density is 10,000 vines per hectare over an area of 2.85 hectares, with traditional goblet pruning.

    Vinification and aging

The 2023 Juliénas is the result of a manual harvest followed by a light crushing and 90% destemming. Fermentation takes place in open vats with immersion and regular pumping over. Maceration lasts 8 to 10 days. After separating the free-run and press juices, the wine is aged in barrels for about 12 months before a light filtration at bottling.
